I wish each and every student and family a peaceful Thanksgiving filled with family, food and friends. It's my favorite holiday and I am truly thankful every year for such a wonderful career and my job at Northwest! What a blessing it has been to be a part of your students lives and use my 'calling' to teach here in Howell. I am so grateful I get to spend Thanksgiving day with my family, my parents, 5 siblings and their partners and especially my 10 nieces and nephews... oh, and of course my fur babies, Finbar and Angus :-) Hope to see you at the Fantasy of Lights parade!
Wow! I can hardly believe I am finishing my 10th year in the comptuer lab! What a wonderful year it has been working with your children :-) Please check out the grade level links on the left to find some wonderful websites with educational activities on the internet... perfect for a rainy day this summer! I wish each and every one of you a safe and rest
Beginning next year Howell High School will begin offering American Sign Language classes for students. I have always been interested in ASL and even considered studying to become a teacher/interpreter for deaf students. This week classes are going to view one of my favorite stories on a YouTube video and learn some basic ASL to go along our lesson and activities!
The past two weeks have been extremely exciting in the technology lab as 2nd through 5th grade students created accounts with Sumdog.com! This GREAT website allows students to practice math skills while competing against classmates, other players from around the world, or a robot :-) We even arranged a friendly competition on our last snow day, and a number of talented students beat Ms. Ryan!!!!
Congratualtions to all NW students using this fabulous FREE resource. Click on the picture above to go to the website!
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! I try to practice gratitude everyday and one of things I am most grateful for is the opportunity to have a career I LOVE and to work with the wonderful families and students here at Northwest! I wish every family a truly Happy Thanksgiving and I hope time to spend with family, friends and loved ones :-)
As the excitement of the upcoming Halloween day approaches, it's always a fun challenge to keep students engaged in learning, but allow some anticipation of the parties and candy to come into the computer lab. I've posted some of the activities planned for our week ahead on each grade level page. They are fun for students and adults alike! I wish all Northwest families a very Happy and Safe Halloween!!!
